Will “21” Davis

I’ve been playing sports since I could walk and love competition1 and pushing personal limits. Your body is capable of way more than you think, you just have to push past what your mind allows. Football was my main sport and baseball was something to do during the off season. I played through high school and was lucky enough to play college football for Birmingham Southern. I started to volunteer at the local fire department and enjoyed the fire service and enrolled in Recruit and EMT school.

Currently I am a Fire Fighter/EMT for Talladega Fire Department. I walked through the door at CrossFit Chelsea at the end of 2014 and haven’t looked back since. I became a coach about 6 months after I joined and love helping and coaching people to reach their goals.

Psalms 23:4 -Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Gene Lewis

After 20 plus years of marketing management, both in the corporate world and as a consultant, where I’ve worked with such Fortune 500 companies as Tyson Foods, Flowers Bakeries and Sara Lee Corporation, I decided to pursue my love for fitness and join the ownership team at Crossfit Chelsea.  Always highly active, I hold a black belt in Taekwondo and enjoy competing in 5K events, mud runs and Crossfit competitions.  In addition, I’ve trained in karate, hapkido, and other self-defense techniques.

Not long after I joined CFC I fell in love with the people and culture here.  It’s a unique place, where everyone is challenged to do his or her best in a supportive and encouraging environment.  I look to combine my business experience and passion for fitness to contribute to achieving Crossfit Chelsea’s goal of being THE absolute best fitness resource to our members and an active participant in the community.

Bachelors and masters degrees in marketing from the University of Alabama.  Graduate level marketing certificate from eCornell, ACE certified personal trainer, CrossFit level one certification, TRX qualified instructor, AED/CPR and first aid certification

Candace Gary

Candace started her fitness journey at a young age playing softball, basketball, and cheering. She started running in 2010 & was hooked. Competing in triathlons until she got pregnant with River in December 2012.  She kept running throughout her pregnancy and after she gave birth completed a full marathon. Becoming bored with running she wanted to try something new so a member at CFC talked her into giving it a shot. She walked into the gym about one week after a marathon thinking she was in shape and realized there were different kinds of fit!  Candace received her L1 and Nutrition Certification with Eat To Perform in August 2015 while pregnant with Rayne. Candace continued to CrossFit during the entire pregnancy per her doctor’s permission and over seeing until she was born September 29, 2016.  Her labor, delivery, and postpartum were a breeze after staying in such great shape and she can credit that all back to staying fit and being in tune with her body and listening.
As a full-time mom, she is here to help and motivate other moms and individuals that just need that extra push and help become motivated to take that next step toward a healthy lifestyle.  “I am living breathing proof you can do it.” -Candace

Challise Shirley

Challise has been a CrossFitter in several cities! She started CrossFit in Auburn while attending school and them moved to the Capstone to finish her degree and now finds herself at CrossFit Chelsea where she coaches the 6:30pm classes on Monday and Wednesday. Challise has a gymnastic background and there’s a good chance you’ll find her swinging on the rig when you come in!

  1. Classic bios. Jeff is way too wordy, cilantro is delicious, therefore you cannot be allergic and I read quickly and thought Jarrod was a certified Zumba instructor. You can imagine my disappointment when I realized he wasn’t. Cuz…

I can’t imagine a better group of coaches, you guys are great.
